California – Hiking with dogs?
I am interested in backpacking in California with my dog. I prefer the Sierra and I prefer stay away from the coast. Done anyone know the good areas where dogs are allowed in the backcountry? It would be great if someone knew rules for state parks, national forests, wilderness areas, BLM lands, etc.
In October 2008, I took my dog Ed Desolation Wilderness in Lake Tahoe. I started the trail at ECCO Lake on the Pacific Crest Trail for a quick Overnighter. Its real nice area and When I went they were very few people. Dogs are allowed but must be leashed. Here's a website with all information. This http://www.fs.fed.us/r5/ltbmu/recreation/wilderness/desowild Web site has some good photos of the area to give you a better idea of what its like. http://doors.stanford.edu/desolation/index.html Hope this helps

Travel back to help …..?
Hello everyone, I intend to visit Europe for 2 months this summer. I most of my game route, but I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to travel backpack. I want a backpack bigger Trip. Does anyone have any recommendations? I just started reading about what "penny" was. What is good backpack with a penny or sustainable materials and whatnot. All people have experience with 2 months of long trips, or have any advice on backpack for it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you:)
I went on a trip two years and he taught me many things on the backpack that I want. The first thing you need to know is how big you want the bag. This does not have to do with the bag itself but this is important because you'll be carrying all that weight on you. I recommend something on the smaller to medium size bags of backpackers (even a large bag, but not huge!) and Essentials Pack Only. Living on a backpack really makes you realize how much you need. When I started, I packed so much so that even ended up leaving things behind a long way. I learned very quickly that the weight is the most important part of a bag. I also find it very important to get a bag that has an access point at the bottom and the top so you can easily switch things at the bottom of your bag. Being able to access your stuff for sure is the next most important thing. Some of them have even closures slide to open the bag full. Make sure it has straps to compact the size of the bag and also for attaching equipment that you may want to hang loose. Padding on the back and straps are also important – most come with it, but do not be afraid give it a squeeze. Make sure it has a waist strap and chest strap as well – are those just off the straps and back close on your forehead. Also, you'll want to obtain protection against the rain – some come with them, but others do not. I have no specific brand I could tell, only the features I think a bag should have. Similarly, I do not know much about these new tissues and abstruse. I would like recommend that you obtain a thick and durable, and you check the seams on the bags you want to buy – make sure they are sewn / Put together. Hope that helps!
