can someone help me plan a backpacking trip to Europe?

I try to save enough money for a trip, backpacking in the summer of 09, which I know is far away. but the IM planning on financing the entire trip by myself I am saving now. but I just need a little help planning my trip. like how I can find good hostels? Where should I go? etc. etc. I think about doing more often in Central Europe. any help is appreciated.

Ooh, I am traveling in Europe in summer 2009! (Although I am also here for most of spring and all fall.) The links below have all been AMAZINGLY helpful for me – the first has hostels in almost every city in Europe! Also, Lonely Planet is a fantastic resource – try Europe on a Shoestring.

How do I go about planning a vacation in Europe?

My mother takes me on a trip to Europe and finally graduated college this spring and we want to go to summer or early fall. How can one go about planning this? We want to buy some sort of package that visits, trips, a long hike, perhaps, hotel, food and transportation all paid for the line but there are so many websites, so I'm not sure to start looking there or maybe go to a travel agency. Anyone have any ideas or advice on how to start planning what to do, what I need, or any other info? Thank you!

Well, I'm sorta in the same boat as you, except I'm planning my entire trip Euro (no pun inteneded) this summer (2008), but one of the most easy since I guess you've never been and your mom did not judge or speak with a travel agency first to see what deals and packages you can get through them and looking for a European travel agency offering packages for tourists visiting and compare, but it is best to sumtimes make your own intestinal vaction a pre set one, there's more funny, but again that was not the point of your question so if Please try the tips listed above and I pray to God it helps.

How much money should I bring for my two week trip to Ireland?

Ok so im backpacking for two weeks in Ireland and im planning on living really cheap, im going to prepare my own meals in the hostels ect. I'm going to see some attractions here and there but im in going mainly to experience the culture … I honestly think that most of my money goes to pints of Guinness lol so this is said € 1000 enough for this adventure?

Well maybe if you do not drink much :-) A pint of Guinness here starts at € 4.50 but can go up as much as € 6 of clubs and hotels. Food is really expensive, but McDonald's and remove those crappy places are relatively cheap. bring rain wear, our weather is very unpredictable. This is a good site for youth hostels. http://www.hostelbookers.com/hostels/ireland/dublin/
